WHAT IS MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE?
A Marriage Certificate is a certificate that proves the relation between husband and wife. A marriage certificate is issued by district marriage registrar, as per religious marriage and special marriage acts.
MARRIAGE REGISTRATION ACTS
Currently, there are two marriage registration acts under which marriage certificate is issued :
The Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 : When marriage is already solemnized where Husband and Wife are Hindus, Buddhists, Jain or Sikhs or when they are converted into any of these religions, they will be considered under these registration Act.
The Special Marriage Act, 1954 : Whereas, this act lay down the procedure for both solemnization and registration of marriage certificate where either of the party or both are not Hindus, Buddhists, Jain or Sikhs.
This certificate can be presented at many places such as passport office, court, Bank, insurance offices, etc. to prove bride and bridegroom were married on a particular date.
ELIGIBILITY CONDITION FOR MARRIAGE REGISTRATION IN DELHI
Eligibility condition for marriage registration in Delhi is :
Both the parties should belong to Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh or Jain religions.
No one should be married before he is going to do first marriage.
Both the parties should be of sound mind, capable of giving valid consent, fit for marriage and procreation of a child.
Girl should be age of 18 years and Boy should be age of 18 years at time of marriage.
Bothe the Boy and the Girl should not be married before or the spouse should not be alive in case of an already married person.
Both the Boy and the Girl should not be related to any 2nd relation.
MARRIAGE REGISTRATION PROCESS IN DELHI
procedure of Marriage Registration in Delhi is :
You Need to Submit the application as described along with all the necessary documents in front of SDM Officer
You should have to appear in front of the SDM and SDM will verify and do registration the marriage
Boy ,Girl and 3 witness have to visit marriage registrar office on the date of appointment in front of SDM for registration of marriage
Then Marriage Certificate will be issued after the completion of the procedure to husband and wife

Note: The documents set of Original with one xerox copy one should carry with them for the registrar office visit.
WHY MARRIAGE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED IN INDIA?

HOW TO APPLY FOR MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE ONLINE IN DELHI
The couples whose marriage has already been solemnized and who belongs to the religion Hindu/Jain/Budh can register their marriage under the Hindu marriage act. Sikhs can register their marriage under Anand marriage act. However, the process is similar to the process which is followed in the Hindu marriage act.

After 2014 -
within 60 days no late fine
60 days to 120 days - 500 late fine
beyond 120 days - 1000 late fine
